Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) is all set to start a particulate matter (PM) emission trading system in Ahmedabad by the end of January. GPCB has completed the installation of Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) in 85% of the factories for the pilot project in Narol and Vatva. The project will be launched soon. Gujarat was the first in the world to start PM emission trading; it began in Surat in 2019..
GPCB started this scheme after the Union ministry of environment and forests began the National Clean Air programme for 122 cities of the country. Four of these cities are in Gujarat.
