India’s first carbon trading market is here. The Gujarat government has announced its plans for setting up a cap-and-trade market for carbon emissions from large sources. According to experts, this exercise is a torch-bearing move for other states that will collectively take India towards its ‘net zero‘ goal and commitment to the world. This will be the first-of-its-kind market in the emerging and growing economies, outside of China.
